cabin retreat
this one’s a bit off-a-beaten-path in the blue mountains region. it’s quiet, open, and a little raw in the best way. the idea wasn’t to compete with the landscape, but to sit comfortably within it. native fire-treated timbers and off-form concrete embraces the raw materials, giving the cabin a toughness that feels appropriate out there, but still warm enough to settle into.
the plan is designed to take advantage of key views in multiple directions. there are moments that pull you north, then west, then somewhere else entirely, so you’re always aware of where you are. it’s simple, but not accidental, the kind of place where you go for a weekend and start wondering why you ever thought the city was a good idea.
