caringbah house

it’s a bit of a coastal house, even though it’s not quite on the coast. that was the starting point, how do you bring that relaxed open way of living into a suburban street in caringbah? the answer ended up being pretty simple: a series of clean, boxy forms that break the house into smaller, more personal spaces. it keeps things feeling light and controlled, while moments of raw off-form concrete cut through the white to give it some weight and contrast.

the way the house is used matters just as much as how it looks. everything opens up to the back, the alfresco and pool, where most of life happens. inside is complimented with a small rock garden, that weaves into the living space and kitchen and makes you feel surrounded by nature. with simple geometry you get a sense of simple easy living, a calm, lived-in feel that unfolds naturally over time.
