mortdale house

located within the quiet rhythm of suburban mortdale, this project re-vamps an aged two storey home into something far more open and generous without losing its original charm. the existing internal layout was mostly retained, while the rear is drawn outward to form a continuous kitchen, dining, and living zone that spills seamlessly into the garden. it was less about adding space and more about extending everyday life, blurring the threshold between inside and out.

at the street, the house remains composed and private. timber-look aluminium battens soften views in, while expansive upper balconies reach outward above. a large pivoting timber door embraces the entry, hinting a sense of warmth before you enter the dwelling. upgraded garage door and white rendered external walls allowed the feeling of new, whilst living in a familiar setting.
